`I paint for myself, not for buyers´

If 50 years is a lifetime to devote to a passion, then it is right to receive a lifetime achievement award for it. Artist Vijay Kakde was presented this award by the India chapter of International Water colour Society at its ongoing 2nd India Biennele in New Delhi last Friday. Happy with the announcement, Kakde, who turned 81 last month, told TOI, `I received the news of the award on my birthday on November 21.` Not having any formal training in painting, Kakde has evolved on his own and is fairly well known for his illustrations in city`s media circle.
